Who Am I?
With over 20 years of experience in the railroad industry, I have watched numerous industries struggle at the hand of their carriers. Only to be told that your track is unsafe and out of compliance for our track standards. Some industries have service contractors at the ready while others struggle and wait for 48 to 72 hours until their contractor can arrive on site. In my experience, most of these situations can be avoided by one simple job. Having someone willing to inspect their track on a scheduled frequency. With 8 years of hands‑on experience as a Track Laborer, I built my foundation in the field by doing the hard work—learning track conditions, solving problems on the ground, and developing a deep understanding of the craft through real‑world challenges.
I advanced into leadership with 3 years as a Lead Track Inspector and 5 years as a Foreman, where I was responsible for ensuring work was completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. These roles strengthened my technical expertise and shaped my leadership style: practical, safety‑driven, and focused on results.
Today, I serve as the Assistant Chief of Maintenance of Way, overseeing day‑to‑day operations and ensuring the reliability and safety of the infrastructure our teams maintain. This progression has also shaped my training and qualifications in FRA Part 213 (Track Safety Standards) and FRA Part 214 (Railroad Workplace Safety), reinforcing my commitment to regulatory compliance and safe, effective maintenance practices.
